Yesterday, Japan-based Toshiba opened a 38,000-square-foot production center in Guadalajara, Mexico, that will serve as a hub for the company’s global commerce and American business divisions. The electronics and IT giant said the investment for the new facility totaled US$2 million.
Toshiba has increased its Mexico employee count from 48 to 298 employees since beginning operations in the country in 2006. The company said restaurant operator Grupo Alsea, wholesaler Costco and children’s entertainment chain Kidzania, are some of Toshiba’s clients that will benefit from the expanded presence in Mexico.
