Logistics provider Kenco has opened a new 300,000-square-foot distribution center in Kalamazoo, Mich., that meets standards for handling medical products. The new facility, which includes 17 loading docks and 120 truck-trailer parking spots, will replace another nearby facility that the company has since outgrown.
“Increased shipping volumes and strong customer demand for services prompted us to build the expanded distribution center,” said Paula Hise, Kenco’s group vice president for health and personal care.
Currently there are 100 employees at the facility with plans to add 10 more permanent jobs in the next two years. Goods that are manufactured in the upper Midwest will be shipped from the facility to both North America and international destinations.
Kenco will provide a full range of distribution services from the facility, including order fulfillment, reverse logistics, raw materials management and transportation. Kenco has more than 90 warehouses across the U.S. and Canada.
