Netherlands-based TNT signed a five-year business process outsourcing contract that enables technology firm Accenture to manage and consolidate the parcel delivery firm’s back-office functions, including finance, accounting, procurement and data entry. Previously, these duties were carried out in-house by TNT staff at the local level.
TNT said the new contract is part of its long-term plan to establishing Global Business Services, a major project under TNT’s Outlook strategy. By outsourcing the back-office functions, the company said it will be able to focus more attention on delivering express packages to customers and is expecting annual costs of €100 million to €150 million, starting in as early as 2016.
The transition of duties to Accenture will take place in phases, between now and the end of 2017, TNT said.
