- Singapore Changi Airport processed 154,700 tonnes of airfreight in June, 0.2 percent less than a year before.
- During the second quarter of 2014, cargo revenue at Delta decreased 1 percent, or US$2 million (1.4 million euros), as lower freight yields were partially offset by higher volumes.
- Kelvin Ko became CEO of Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL), a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways that is operating the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport. Prior to this, Ko was COO of CPSL.
- Jan de Rijk Logistics signed a prolongation agreement for road feeder services with Singapore Airlines Cargo. Jan de Rijk will provide European trucking services to Singapore Airlines at the airline’s main European hubs in Brussels and Amsterdam.
- China Cargo Airlines signed a 12-year OnPointSM service agreement with GE Aviation for the MRO on its GE90-110B engines that power six Boeing 777 freighters.
- Ruslan International delivered an urgent shipment of ethanol production equipment in time for an opening ceremony. The cargo – for a new ethanol production facility operated by one of Brazil’s leading producers – was originally intended to be transported by ship. However, because it was needed in time for the opening ceremony attended by the country’s president and other VIPs, it was flown from Toronto to Viracopos in Brazil, using an AN-124.
- The British International Freight Association (BIFA) named Robert Keen as its new director general to succeed Peter Quantrill, who will retire from the trade association in August. Keen joined the industry in 1970 and worked for a succession of forwarders before joining BIFA in 1999.
- American Airlines Cargo began offering full cargo service to and from Albuquerque, N.M.; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Norfolk, Va.
- Dachser announced its acquisition of the remaining 50 percent of MGI & Dachser to create Dachser Korea, Inc. The global logistics provider has maintained a presence in South Korea since 2006 and became the sole shareholder of the joint venture in December 2013. In addition to renaming the company on July 1, Dachser Korea, Inc. also moved into new offices in Seoul.
- United Airlines launched CarbonChoice, a new business tool for corporate cargo customers to track and offset the emissions associated with their airfreight accounts. Cargo customers with large-scale, regular shipments on United can receive customized emissions reports.
- Hawaiian Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for six A330-800neo aircraft. The new commitment replaces a previous order placed by Hawaiian for six A350-800s. It is the first U.S. airline to join the launch list for the A330-800neo.
- Boeing Commercial Airplanes reported that second quarter revenue increased by 5 percent to US$14.3 billion (10.6 billion euros) on higher deliveries. Commercial Airplanes booked 264 net orders during the quarter. Backlog remains strong with over 5,200 airplanes.
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport won the Global Efficiency Excellence Award from the Air Transport Research Society for the 11th year.
- dnata’s operations in Manila secured RA3 certification for its ramp services at Ninoy Aquino International airport. RA3 is a supply chain security initiative of the European Union.
