AirBridgeCargo Airlines transported a 16-tonne satellite (pictured above) on one of its Boeing 747-400 freighters from Toulouse in France to Krasnoyarsk, Russia, on Aug. 2. The airline handles high value cargo for aerospace clients on a regular basis. In the first half of 2013 it carried more than 1,000 tonnes of aerospace equipment including other space equipment, aircraft components, helicopter spares and engines.
Itasca, Illinois-based AIT Worldwide Logistics has opened several new facilities over the past few weeks. These include Houston, Omaha, Toronto and Amsterdam.
Delta Air Lines reported that cargo ton miles were down 4.9 percent during July, with a total of 200,996. Year-to-date, the Atlanta-based carrier reported that cargo ton miles were down 3.4 percent to 1,340,324.
