A joint venture between Swissport International and Flughafen Graz airport in Austria will commence at the beginning of 2016. Swissport Cargo Services Graz will provide cargo services, handling approximately 10,000 tonnes of air cargo each year for airlines and freight forwarders. There will be no changes in the operational set-up.
The JV will be located on the airport property for direct access to handling facilities for air cargo. With the existing customer base and an experienced staff, the transition will be well equipped for customers, the company said.
“What makes this cooperation special is the fact that we can build on existing as well as future client relations in order to expand our cargo offering in Austria from Vienna to Graz and beyond that in the future,” said Philipp Joeinig, executive vice-president Europe for Swissport International.
Swissport International provides ground services for around 229 million passengers and handles 4.1 million tonnes of cargo a year on behalf of some 700 clients in the aviation sector.
