Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd., (Boeing Shanghai) has signed a maintenance agreement with Russia-based Transaero Airlines for its Boeing 767 fleet. With this contract, Boeing Shanghai has secured all 767 operators in Russia as heavy maintenance customers. The first Transaero 767 was inducted for a C-check in late January, followed by another airplane nose-to-tail in Boeing Shanghai’s facilities at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
- Congressman Alan Lowenthal of California introduced H.R. 1308, “The National Multimodal and Sustainable Freight Infrastructure Act,” on March 4. The legislation will provide a dedicated revenue source to invest roughly US$8 billion a year in freight-related infrastructure projects throughout the nation, with a focus on multimodal projects that help relieve the bottlenecks in the freight transportation system. The bill would be funded through a national 1 percent waybill fee on the transportation cost of goods.
- DHL is planning to hire 150 employees to fill new jobs at its CVG Americas hub, located adjacent to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron. The hiring push is part of a US$46 million investment the company is making in its Northern Kentucky facility, which will also include enhancements in infrastructure and equipment upgrades.
