The high-tech center will further advance the air transport infrastructure of both Hungary and Central Europe.
Representatives from the European Commission, EUROCONTROL, the Trans-European Transport Network Executive Agency and the Hungarian government were present at the ceremony.
The ANS III project is a key part of the development program sponsored by HungaroControl to improve Air Traffic Management efficiency and to ensure that the Hungarian air navigation service provider meets the European Union’s performance objectives.
The EU gave more than $7.8 million (€6 million) to support the ATM control center.
The center is equipped with innovative equipment and software. The opening of ANS III allows HungaroControl to have its research efforts in one location.
The center is already operational in the Hungarian airspace.
