Austrian 3PL Gebrüder Weiss, which already operates thirteen 50,000 square-foot warehouses in China, said it plans to increase its Chinese presence. The company said it will expand its storage facilities “significantly” in the next five years at several commercial hubs, addressing increasing demand for the transportation of furniture, fashion and automotive goods between Europe and Asia.
The 3PL recently opened warehouses in Chongqing and Chengdu to capitalize on demand for warehousing facilities in China’s major air hubs. Gebrüder handles the transportation of clients’ goods from European factories, through the international import process, and organizes the cargo at its storage facilities before delivering the goods the final mile to the customer.
The company has had a busy week – on Monday, it began construction on a 9,000-square-meter logistics facility back in home in Austria that will address the need for final-mile services in the region.
