FedEx’s forwarding arm, FedEx Trade Networks (FTN), announced the opening of a new office in Malaysia in Penang. Located approximately 100 miles north of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, the new FTN office is located in Penang’s central business district, close to the airport and the seaport, as well as the city’s key infrastructure facilities.
According to FedEx, the new branch offers services that the company expects will improve e-commerce, international air- and ocean freight forwarding, surface transportation (both domestic and cross-border), customs brokerage, trade and customs advisory services.
Penang is one of the most urbanized and industrialized states in Malaysia, with a robust retail and e-commerce infrastructure. The state also has a high concentration of factories in Malaysia’s high-tech industry, which produces electronics and electrical products, industrial goods, and aerospace commodities.
