Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) could set a record for airfreight volume this year. The cargo handler is reporting tonnage growth of more than 6.8 percent, year-on-year, with about 1.46 million tonnes of cargo handled for the first 11 months of this year. That figure is creeping up to the 1.5 million tonnes PACTL handled in 2014, which was a record for the facility.
PACTL’s domestic cargo volume grew by about 8.5 percent, year-over-year to 94,700 tonnes from January through November of 2015, while its international cargo volumes rose by 6.7 percent to 1.36 million tonnes. Imports increased by nearly 9.1 percent to 591,000 tonnes, while exports grew by 5.3 percent to almost 868,000 tonnes.
The Shanghai-based cargo handler reported its strongest first-half results in its history this year, achieving tonnage growth of 10.9 percent, year-over-year. PACTL handled a total of 762,000 tonnes of airfreight from January until the end of June 2015.
