Confident is how AirBridgeCargo described its start to 2016, as it reported a 30 percent year-over-year rise in tonnage carried in January. ABC transported 43,605 tonnes of cargo to Europe, North American and the Asia-Pacific region for the month. The carrier attributes this robust performance to last year’s fleet and network expansion.
Newly launched destinations since the start of the year included Singapore and Hanoi in the Asia-Pacific region, Helsinki in Europe, and Los Angeles and Atlanta in North America. It also didn’t hurt that three additional 747 freighters were added to the fleet, propelling the carrier to achieve one of the highest freight tonne kilometer growth performances in the industry.
“We are being asked by clients for direct cargo services to some destinations which we are still missing in our network. As a consequence, we see ABC’s further development in creating a really global network and competitive global value proposition for our customers resulting in us delivering high quality air cargo delivery services to new regional markets and new customers,” said Denis Ilin, ABC’s executive president.
