Moscow-based carrier AirBridgeCargo (ABC) transported 19 va-Q-tec brand temperature-controlled containers containing pharmaceuticals for German logistics company Biotech & Pharma – a feat which the carrier says is a new record for ABC.
In Frankfurt, ABC’s crew loaded the 15 tonnes of cargo into a 747-8 freighter, while being supervised by a team of specialists trained in handling pharmaceuticals to ensure the temperature of the cargo stayed safely within range. The shipment arrived at its destination, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, intact and within the temperature range.
Fedor Novikov, global director of pharma at ABC said, “We are constantly reviewing our services to align them with the expectations of our customers and the wider pharma market in order to improve our operations.”
ABC has done well in capitalizing on demand for temperature-sensitive cargo, reporting an 80 percent year-on-year increase in volume of pharma cargo handled in the first quarter of 2018.
