Strategically located in the center of France, Chateauroux-Centre “Marcel Dassault” Airport is poised to become the recipient of a large distribution hub, called EuroSity, which will be constructed by SFECZ, the French-Chinese subsidiary of property developers Beijing Capital Land.
Chateauroux-Centre, dedicated to freight, can be reached within eight hours by truck to Paris and other major European cities, and three hours by air to major European economic centers. Beijing Capital will begin phase I of the 138-acre site with nearly 1.3 million square-feet of warehouse space and more than 30,000 square-feet of office space and other amenities.
The hub is focused on the needs of Chinese shippers, who want to have consolidation and distribution facilities conveniently located for fast access to European households with manufactured goods.
Chateauroux-Centre has an 11,482-foot-long runway – the longest in Europe – enough to accommodate the largest of freight carriers. The airport also has excellent rail and highway connections.
Construction on the facility should begin later this year, with occupancy expected in the second half of 2016.
