The Cargo Connector service, launched by IAG Cargo in 2012, has now been expanded to San Francisco, making it the tenth city in IAG’s network to benefit from the convenience of having freight weighing less than 300 kilos, or about 661 pounds, picked up at the customer’s door.
With Cargo Connector, freight forwarders, at no additional cost, can make bookings at short notice, and they do not have to invest in their own truck and driver. Screening is also included at no charge. In San Francisco, 95 percent of IAG customers are within a five-mile radius of the airport.
Drivers are equipped with mobile devices that allow them to book shipments and inform the customer about flight information on the spot.
The successful program is now available in seven U.S. cities: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Seattle and Houston, in addition to IAG’s U.K. hub at London Heathrow Airport and Frankfurt Airport in Germany.
