The logistics consolidation trend continued this week as GEODIS, the French supply chain company, received regulatory approval and completed its acquisition of Nashville-based OHL (Ozburn-Hessey Logistics). OHL, founded in 1951, is a leading 3PL in the United States, with annual revenue in excess of US$1.3 billion.
The company said it anticipates that the united structure will generate a consolidated annual turnover of over $8.7 billion, with more than 38,000 employees and 165,000 customers. Combined, the company will have approximately 400 logistics warehouses around the world, additional freight forwarding capability and enhanced e-fulfillment expertise.
Under the terms of the agreement, OHL will be rebranded as GEODIS. Randy Curran, CEO of OHL, will remain as a new member of GEODIS’ executive committee.
OHL has more than 120 distribution centers in North America, with more than 36 million square feet of warehouse space. It provides integrated global supply chain management services, including transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and import and export consulting.
GEODIS operates in over 67 countries through its five lines of business: Supply Chain Optimization, Freight Forwarding, Contract Logistics, Distribution and Express and Road Transport. With over 120,000 customers and 30,000 employees, GEODIS’s annual revenue amounts to $7.4 billion.
