Fraport Cargo Services, a subsidiary of airport manager Fraport AG, formed a partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) for airfreight handling at Frankfurt Airport. Under the agreement signed in July, Fraport has sold 51 percent of FCS to WFS, an independent air cargo handler.
FCS handles approximately 500,000 tonnes of airfreight per year for about 40 airlines as customers.
With annual revenues of US$805 million, WFS claims to be the world’s largest air cargo handler. WFS employs about 14,000 staff and is present at over 145 major airports in more than 22 countries on five continents. WFS handles more than 4 million tonnes of cargo each year for 300 airlines, it said.
