Driven by growing demand for Olympic Games-related freight, Cargolux Airlines is bringing full-freighter service back to Rio de Janeiro, after being absent from the country for some time. The weekly flight will leave Luxembourg on Fridays, en route to Rio de Janeiro, continuing to Viracopos/ São Paulo, before returning to Europe on Saturday. Cargolux intends to continue with Rio for the long term and further develop this route.
The summer Olympic Games of 2016 won’t be held until Aug. 5-21, but Cargolux is already experiencing a spike in demand for transportation of valuable equipment to Brazil. Additionally, Cargolux will carry car parts and spares, chemicals, electrical goods, consolidated freight and household goods to Rio de Janeiro. Cargolux also serves the Brazilian cities of Manaus, Petrolina and Curitiba.
