ITA Airways is a company 100% owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the exercise of its activity in the air transport segment. The company has been active since November 2020. ITA Airways operates in cargo and mail transportation using the bellies of its passenger aircraft. ITA Airways' freight hub is located at Rome Fiumicino Airport. The geographical coverage is capillary also thanks to the integration with an effective road transport system (RFS: Road Feeder Service). ITA Airways will equip itself with a modern and environmental-friendly fleet that will include cutting-edge technologies to optimize efficiency and quality of the offer and significantly reduce the environmental impact. At the beginning of its activities, ITA Airways will operate with a fleet of 52 aircraft including 7 wide body (Airbus A330) and 45 narrow body (Airbus A320 and A319). Already in 2022 the fleet will grow to 78 aircraft (+26 on 2021) of which 13 wide body (+6 on 2021) and 65 narrow body (+20 on 2021). From 2022 it is planned to start the inclusion in the fleet of new generation aircraft that will progressively replace the old technology aircraft. At the end of 2025 the fleet will grow to 105 aircraft (23 wide body and 82 narrow body) with 70% of new generation aircraft.
