A Boeing 737-300F that joined the airline’s fleet started providing operations in early May in Douala, Cameroon; Brazzaville, Congo and Pointe-Noir, Congo.
AfricaWest also announced its recent acquisition of two ATR72F aircraft to accommodate growing demand in its Central and West African destinations.
“The order has been placed, and the delivery of the first ATR72F is expected by the end of June 2013,” Yannick Erbs, CEO of AfricaWest, said.
He said the aircraft will make regular trips to destinations such as Cotonou, Benin; Port-Gentil, Gabon; Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Niamey, Niger; Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Bamako, Mali and Monrovia, Liberia.
The delivery of a second ATR72F is expected in October, he said.
Erbs said AfricaWest will soon disclose more plans for the future.
“We are definitely reinforcing our services and expanding our destinations,” he said. “Our objective is to achieve 21 principal destinations by the end of 2014 and to ensure steady and uninterrupted services.”
AfricaWest, which is based in Lomé, Togo, was founded in 1997.
