ORLANDO – The day after college sophomores Tim Maginn and Dana Zaher were awarded scholarships during the CNS Partnership Conference, Warren Jones, president of CNS, began today’s sessions with some more good news: the scholarships have already led to a job. Well, an internship, actually.
Jones, who had spoken earlier with $5,000 scholarship winner Maginn, told the crowd that the young man had said “Wow, air cargo rocks!” after learning more about the business. Soon after winning the scholarship, Maginn was approached by representatives at Swissport International, who rewarded his enthusiasm with an internship.
On Monday, a second scholarship award for $2,500 was also given to runner-up Zaher. Both Zaher and Maginn are attending Middle Tennessee State University. Jones and Matt Buckley of Southwest Airlines presented the scholarships.
The CNS Scholarship program is designed to attract more young people to the air cargo industry. The scholarships are offered to students attending an accredited U.S. college or university and studying in the logistics, transportation or international business fields.
