Today, Zurich-based cool-chain container firm, SkyCell, and logistics services company DuPont Safety & Construction are entering an alliance to share data and market knowledge in the transportation of perishables.
Richard Ettl, CEO of SkyCell, said the company is interested in utilizing DuPont’s innovative cargo covers, especially its Tyvek Cargo Covers, which protect pharmaceutical products from solar radiation and extreme ambient temperatures.
The ULD manufacturer’s customers include Luxembourg-based all-cargo carrier, Cargolux, and Dubai-based Emirates SkyCargo, which both use SkyCell’s temperature-controlled containers to cater to pharma clients.
The companies plan to collaborate on projects in temperature monitoring, shipment tracking, asset management and “smart” data-driven services, which suggest “internet of things” technology.
