Qatar Airways Cargo has added its seventh freighter destination in India, flying twice a week to Ahmedabad, dubbed the “denim capital of India,” and the largest city in the state of Gujarat.
A330 freighter service will leave Doha on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a stop in Mumbai, before continuinging on to Ahmedabad. Departures from Ahmedabad will be on the same days.
Ahmedabad, known mostly for its manufacturing of denim fabric and its export of jewelry and gemstones, is an important economic and industrial hub in India. Besides textiles, the city also produces chemicals, cars and pharmaceuticals. The city has also established itself as a biotech hub, with more than 50 biotechnology companies and approximately 66 biotech support organizations.
Qatar Airways Cargo has been busy of late, launching QR Pharma for pharmaceuticals and health care items, and QR fresh for perishable products. Additionally, the airline has a new, fully-automated cargo handling facility at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
