Panalpina has consolidated its supply chain experts and offerings under one centralized entity called Supply Chain Solutions, saying that it will increase its supply chain team and offerings in the upcoming months.
Supply Chain Solutions is “investing in people, IT and infrastructure” to increase flexibility, customization and visibility for customers, said Karl Weyeneth, Panalpina’s chief commercial officer. Supply Chain Solutions’ global head Hans Elmegaard will report to Weyeneth under the new organizational structure.
Areas the new organization expects to focus on include optimization and end-to-end management of supply chains, where Panalpina sees growth opportunities. According to Elmegaard, Supply Chain Solutions sees supply chains as “a strategic enabler for their [customers’] business.”
“Not only do we strive to build more efficient and cost-effective supply chains for our customers, but supply chains that actually support their business models,” he added. “It’s about turning supply chains into a competitive advantage.”
Currently, Panalpina’s Supply Chain Solutions entity offers customized services along the supply chain, with available features including cargo consolidation and de-consolidation, vendor and carrier management, inventory and purchase order management, and the optimization of freight forwarding services and logistics set-ups.
