LINC invests $1m in cargo
Logistics Insight Corp., or LINC, is spending more than $1 million to expand its cargo-sorting facility at the Fort Wayne International Airport Air Cargo Hub. Once the expansion is complete, the 3PL will occupy 165,370 square feet of space at FWA, an increase of 59,480 square feet.
“Expanding our operations at Fort Wayne International Airport provides us the opportunity to continue growing and offering a high level of customer service to our clients,” Matt Lock, LINC general manager, said in a statement.
According to a press release, LINC’s investment will cover the purchase of mobile equipment and tractor-trailer support, as well as upgrades to its internal warehouse infrastructure and IT systems.
Patrick Dooley, vice president of airport development for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, said the expansion “signals LINC’s confidence in the community and a positive relationship with the airport. This project not only adds to the airport’s non-aeronautical revenue stream, but it provides the community with new job opportunities.”
The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority projects that approximately 50 new jobs will be created as a result of LINC’s expansion. Hiring for the positions is slated to begin in June, according to the press release.
LINC isn’t the only company investing in Fort Wayne International Airport. The FWACAA is also planning to devote more than $1 million to renovate FWA, funds that will be utilized to install 10 dock doors, build a 10-foot demising wall and remove six embedded roller floors.
