Luxembourg-based airfreight carrier Cargolux is partnering with ULD manufacturer SkyCell to offer temperature-controlled containers to Cargolux’s pharmaceutical customers.
With the SkyCell containers, Cargolux will be able to maintain pharma products for several days at several temperature ranges, including +2°C to +8°C and +15°C to +25°C, even with external temperatures ranging from -35°C to +65°C. The containers are also low-weight, to save money on jet fuel, and completely recyclable, SkyCell said.
Emirates SkyCargo came to a similar arrangement with SkyCell in May, when it also signed an agreement with va-Q-tainer for passive cool-chain containers. Emirates SkyCargo and Cargolux signed an agreement during the same month, to allow the carriers to use each other’s capacity for routes and capabilities beyond their own fleets. The airlines recently expanded that partnership with a codeshare agreement.
