Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines launched a second weekly 747 freighter service between Luxembourg (LUX) and Jakarta (CGK), beginning Thursday. The new service departs LUX on Thursdays and arrives in Jakarta on Fridays.
The second weekly flight adds to the carrier’s original LUX-CGK service, launched in June of this year, which departs LUX on Sundays and arrives at CGK on Mondays. A statement from the airline on Friday said the doubling of its service to CGK caters “for the growing market in South East Asia” after the initial service proved the potential of Indonesia and Southeast Asia generally for the carrier.
Cargolux has expanded its cargo operations with several new routes in 2019, many of which reflect the carrier’s growing focus on Asia. In addition to its initial Jakarta route launched in June, during July, the carrier added a new route between Milan’s Malpensa International Airport (MXP) and Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea, as well as a third weekly frequency to Xiamen (XMN), departing from LUX and stopping in Los Angeles (LAX) on its return to Luxembourg.
