A second weekly flight between Milan, Italy, and Cargolux’s Chinese hub in Zhengzhou was added this month, departing on Sunday mornings with a stop in Novosibirsk, Russia. The Zhengzhou service also marked the first commercial service to Russia by the carrier.
From Zhengzhou, Cargolux’s ground partners forward goods to other major Chinese markets. Cargolux Italia claims to offer the only direct air cargo connection between Milan and Zhengzhou, a rapidly growing cargo airport that has become an important gateway to China. Commodities carried on the route include Italian fashion, machinery and mechanical spare parts.
“With our second service from Milan, Cargolux Italia and the Cargolux Group can significantly boost its presence in both markets,” said CEO Pierandrea Galli. Cargolux Italia is the main cargo carrier at Milan’s Malpensa Airport, with a market share of 15 percent.
