Earlier this year, AirBridgeCargo Airlines added Los Angeles to its schedule, and now the carrier has extended its U.S. service once more, adding twice-weekly 747 freighter flights to Atlanta as of Nov. 20. The scheduled service operates on Fridays and Sundays, with onward connections to Europe and beyond to the carrier’s online stations in Russia and Asia.
“During the first 10 months of 2015, we have doubled our volumes on China-U.S. routes,” said Robert van de Weg, ABC’s senior vice president, sales and marketing.
Miguel Southwell, aviation general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport said increasing air cargo volumes is a top priority in the growth of Atlanta’s logistics operations. The U.S. has become a major focus for AirBridgeCargo, which has been actively developing its American presence since it launched its Chicago flights back in 2011. Since then, ABC has increased its network to include Dallas, Los Angeles, and now Atlanta, and in that time achieved a compound annual growth rate in tonnage to/from USA of 36 percent and annual volumes to/from the U.S. of over 56,000 tonnes.
