BUDAPEST — ULD management company Jettainer is expanding its temperature-sensitive transport presence, launching a temperature-controlled ULD service that, head of marketing and PR Martin Kraemer said, addressed a “gap in the management of complete ULD fleets.” The announcement was made earlier today at the Air Cargo Handling Conference, held here at the Corinthia Hotel.
The new service, called “Cool Management,” includes leasing, management and positioning, as well as monitoring of temperature-controlled ULDs during the entire transportation process. Kraemer explained that, rather than buying the ULD units, Jettainer would be “steering and managing the units.”
Cool Management offers “by-the-unit” steering, and is designed to handle high-value shipments, meaning there is heightened risk and thus, more oversight. “You have one shipment that goes in one specific container, and that has to be steered by the unit. It’s very complex, and the risk for everybody in the logistics chain is high, because if something goes wrong, the pharma shipment is often worth millions of dollars,” Kraemer explained. “It’s different from regular ULD management.”
Jettainer launched the services in response to demand for cool-chain management, an offering that the company didn’t provide heretofore. With Cool Management now live, Jettainer said that it can now offer 100 percent ULD management.
