Volga-Dnepr Airlines, part of Moscow-based Volga-Dnepr Group, completed the delivery of four Bell 214B helicopters with tanks and other related equipment from Wellcamp (WTB) and Perth (PER), Australia, to Athens (ATH), Greece, to help battle the wildfires that have spread over the past few weeks. The roughly 30-tonne shipment was organized with charter service company Chapman Freeborn Australia and Australia-based heli-aviation company McDermott Aviation and was split between WTB and PER. Each location had the two helicopters ready to be uplifted two days after an AN-124-100 was positioned in Australia. The four water-bombers joined Greece’s other 214B only 48 hours after landing.
