People: ACI World has new director general, other air cargo execs rise

The air cargo industry saw several key appointments in May. Erbacci to become CEO at ACI World [caption id="attachment_57143496" align="alignright" width="226"] Justin Erbacci[/caption] Justin Erbacci will become Airports Council International (ACI) World ’s director general and chief executive in September. He will succeed Luis Felipe de Oliveira , who has held these roles since 2020. Erbacci will be responsible for implementing policies formulated by the organization’s general assembly and world governing board, and driving membership growth, according to a May 8 release from ACI. Erbacci previously served as chief executive of Saudia Arabia’s Neom Airports , which operates Neom Bay Airport (NUM); and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), which operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). He has also held positions at Star Alliance , Credit Suisse , United Airlines , Reese McMahon LLC , Cambridge Management Consultants and Deloitte Touche . Lo to helm Menzies CNAC [caption id="attachment_57143504" align="alignright" width="222"] Raymond Lo[/caption] Menzies Aviation has appointed Raymond Lo as chief executive of Menzies CNAC , the rebranded name of Jardine Aviation Services Group , in which Menzies acquired a 50% stake in January. With more than 24 years at Menzies Aviation, Lo has spent the last decade as managing director of Menzies Macau Airport Services , according to a May 8 release from Menzies. Prior to this, he spent eight years working for Menzies Aviation in Hong Kong. Lo will replace interim Chief Executive Vivien Lau , who will return to her permanent position at Jardine Matheson . Lo began as CEO on May 1 and Lau will remain through June to assist with the transition, according to the release. AIT appoints Nemphos as CTO [caption id="attachment_57143491" align="alignright" width="230"] Ann Nemphos[/caption] Supply chain solutions company AIT Worldwide Logistics named Ann Nemphos its chief technology officer, a new position at the company. Nemphos is responsible for driving innovation, modernizing business systems and leading special projects, according to a May 20 release from the company. She reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Ray Fennelly . Nemphos has been a technology executive for several multinational companies, developing and implementing innovations, such as automated transactions for the retail industry, real-time payments in the health care sector and mobile solutions for insurance customers, according to the release. She most recently served as chief technology officer at World Group . Prior to that, she was vice president of application development for the Americas at Kuehne+Nagel . Pietersma named Silk Way West’s COO [caption id="attachment_57143501" align="alignright" width="253"] Onno Pietersma[/caption] Baku, Azerbaijan-based cargo carrier Silk Way West Airlines named Onno Pietersma as its chief operating officer. In his new role, Pietersma will drive initiatives to enhance the stability and reliability of the carrier’s expanding operations, according to a May 30 release from Silk Way West. With more than 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, Pietersma has held leadership positions with Cargolux and KLM . “Strengthening the stability of the network is essential for elevating our service delivery,” Pietersma said in the release. Silk Way West Airlines ranks 27th on Air Cargo Next ’s Freight 50 list of top cargo carriers, flying 2.9 billion cargo tonne kilometers (CTK) in 2022. DDC names McKeon as CFO [caption id="attachment_57143498" align="alignright" width="161"] Mike McKeon[/caption] Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) appointed Mike McKeon as the company’s chief financial officer, effective May 30. McKeon succeeds Manish Arora , who served as the company’s CFO for nearly four years. McKeon brings more than 35 years of experience in finance, strategy and operations, having worked for several multinational corporations such as Coca Cola and McCain Food , according to a May 27 release from DDC. DDC announced May 21 that it will merge with Canadian drone company Volatus Aerospace in a transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2024. Pierson steps into interim CFO role at Forward Air [caption id="attachment_57143495" align="alignright" width="243"] Jamie G. Pierson[/caption] Greeneville, Tenn.-based logistics provider Forward Air appointed Jamie G. Pierson as interim chief financial officer, effective May 20. Pierson succeeds Rebecca Garbrick , who will remain at Forward Air to assist with the transition, according to a May 20 release from the company. Pierson most recently served as chief financial officer of MV Transportation , leaving the role in January. Prior to joining MV Transportation, he held senior leadership positions at Ecobat Technologies and YRC Worldwide . Forward Air is working with an executive search firm to find a new CFO, according to the release.
