After starting with a promising surge in airfreight demand during the U.S. West Coast port crisis, 2015 has proven to be a tough year as the industry endured economic fallout from a slowdown in the Asian economy, falling airfreight demand on prominent trade routes and a marked decline in fuel surcharge revenues.
Through it all, at least three cargo leaders stood out for their vision of the future – CEOs Denis Ilin of AirBridgeCargo, Dirk Reich of Cargolux, and Jeffrey S. Musser of Expeditors International. While each of these executives faced different challenges, they have been rewarded for not panicking in reaction to economic challenges and for hewing close to their strategies for growth, joint-cooperation and meeting customers’ needs.
