Lufthansa Cargo acquires fleet of CSafe containers

Lufthansa Cargo will have a fleet of CSafe RKN containers made available to the carrier for lease, to be put into service for the airline’s Cool/td-Active program for perishables. Cool/td- Active is designed to protect temperature-sensitive cargo through all steps of the air transportation process, allowing only minimal tarmac exposure.

The RKN container is a compressor-driven refrigeration unit that can manage temperature ranges between 39 and -13 degrees Fahrenheit. The insulation in the units are also designed to withstand extended hold times or delays. Because the units don’t require dry ice, there are no special handling charges or charges required for hazardous goods. A data-tracking device monitors payload temperature at all times.
