Just weeks after taking on a cargo-handling contract with Qatar Airways in Stockholm, Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has taken on a new cargo client, Singapore Airlines, which recently began flying to the Swedish capital.
Since late May, Singapore Airlines has operated five-times-per-week A350-900 service connecting Singapore, Moscow and Stockholm. This week, WFS said it will begin handling the belly cargo carried on this route at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) for the next three years.
Under the new contract, WFS said it expects to handle between 3,000 and 4,000 tonnes of cargo per year for the carrier on the new widebody flights, operating every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. “Singapore Airlines’ decision to work with WFS at yet another station in Europe is another big boost for our cargo business in the region,” said Marc Claesen, WFS’ regional vice president.
In mid-June, WFS also landed a three-year contract with Qatar Airways in ARN to handle about 12,000 tonnes of cargo per year from the carrier’s 13 flights per week to Doha.
